MESSAGE TO ALL WESTERN STATES MOUNTED SHOOTER MEMBERS. Nov 1, 2012
On behalf of the Western States Shooting Association we want to thank our 300 members for your outstanding support for the past two years. During 2012, there were 30 shoots and an outstanding year end championship shoot with 135 participants that were awarded over $35,000.00 in cash and prizes. This is definitely proof that the mounted shooters of the northwest are an extremely motivated group capable of supporting and producing quality events. Thank you!
At the Western States Shooting Association Presidentís meeting held during the Finals, the Board of Directors relayed their concerns in managing the growth of the association. The expense associated with the growth dictates that full time employees needed to be hired to take us to the next level. We are a not-for-profit organization and therefore currently the only source of income to pay employees is the membership fees. Without a substantial increase in fees to the general membership we are not able to fund full time employees. It has always been the Western States Shooting Associations objective to keep our fees at the lowest amount possible. We feel that if we were to raise our fees to continue, we would still not be able to offer the kinds of service and programs that other shooting organizations can already offer. The Board of Directors for WSSA have always maintained, that should an organization come to our area that could move our sport to the next level that we would bow out .
WSSA has decided to discontinue and shift our support to MSA effective November 1, 2012. MSA is currently offering outstanding incentives to new members and their clubs to join their organization. Please join us in transferring our support and great enthusiasm for the sport in general to the NEW MSA. For a list of the incentives, go to www.newmsa.com.
We have been watching Mounted Shooters of America during their start up in 2012 and contacted them to see how we could help. In consultation with Mounted Shooters of America (MSA), it was revealed that they are prepared to go to the next level. MSA is extremely interested in supporting our area and Canada. MSA has the personnel and financial backing to accomplish this transition. With the help of WSSA and their affiliated clubs, MSA will continue to grow and benefit the sport of mounted shooting especially in the northwest.
It has been our greatest pleasure to watch the WSSA grow. We canít thank the great mounted shooters of the Northwest enough for supporting WSSA this past two years. We are hopeful the support you have displayed for WSSA will transfer to MSA with the same enthusiasm. We hope to see you at many events in the future.
